Yarbrough Signs FA Contract with Denver Broncos

Wyoming defensive end Eddie Yarbrough signed a free agent contact with the Denver Broncos after not being picked in the 2016 NFL draft. Yarbrough played football at Grandview High School in Aurora, CO and was a three time All-Mountain West player for the Cowboys.

“Eddie (Yarbrough) is very deserving of this opportunity,” said University of Wyoming head football coach Craig Bohl. “Eddie is an outstanding player and an outstanding young man, who did everything the right way throughout his career at Wyoming. We think he’ll have an opportunity for a long-term career in the NFL.”

WYOMING BASKETBALL IN LAS VEGAS

UW basketball head coach Allen Edwards' Cowboys will participate in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic this season, a tournament set for December 22nd and 23rd at the Orleans Arena.

Wyoming was one of the youngest basketball teams in 2015-16 with only one graduated senior in Josh Adams and expect to return most of their nucleus including Jason McManamen after coming off a 14-18 season.

"I see mostly everyone will be returning. Nobody said anything to me about doing something different," said Edwards. "We talked about a lot of things, but I made sure I ended the conversation pertaining to the question you just asked and everyone seemed to be happy."

The Las Vegas Classic will include Southern California, DePaul, and Missouri State, and the Pokes are rumored to face Cornell and Detroit in home contests before the tournament moves to Las Vegas for two days.

The tentative Wyoming 2016-17 non-conference schedule looks to include home games with Northern Iowa (MW/MVC Classic), Denver, Montana, South Dakota State, along with Detroit and Cornell. Road games at Cal and Montana. The full release of the schedule will come later this summer.

CONWAY CHOOSES FOOTBALL

Wyoming head football coach Craig Bohl and head basketball coach Allen Edwards officially announced on Tuesday that Austin Conway, who was a member of the Cowboy basketball team this past year as a freshman, will join the Wyoming football team full-time beginning this summer. He will play wide receiver and will be utilized as a kick returner for the Cowboys. With this move, Conway will no longer play basketball for Wyoming.

“Austin (Conway) showed us during spring football that he has a passion for the game of football and that he had the skills to benefit our team moving forward,” said Bohl. “We were aware of Austin’s football accomplishments in high school. The fact that he has only been away from the game for a year we believe will make his transition a smooth one. He certainly benefitted from going through spring practice with us and will benefit from having a full summer to work with our strength and conditioning staff. We are excited to have Austin as a part of our team."
